Biography

Scots born photographer Maurice McDonald has worked for publications all over the world with his first stint in the United States, on returning to the United kingdom he worked on Sports Magazines and Newspapers.

He has travelled to parts of the world such as Africa for Band Aid and war-torn regions of Iraq and other parts of the middle east on assignment. While there he picked up a News Picture Agency Award from his work, he feels very privileged to be in a job he loves doing. He said: “When I was on assignment in Hong Kong with Sir Richard Branson, I had to pinch myself to think that i was photographing such a great entrepreneur in a magnificent part of the world”       

Around 10 years ago after catching a winter virus his immune system is left compromised, and his body’s own cells start attacking the pancreas and he looses function and become insulin dependent.

This means he must inject 3 – 4 times a day to stay alive.

He is the First Type 1 diabetic to ride solo and unsupported around the world on a 28 year old motorcycle.
